Clinical Massage

Clinical massage therapy consists of a special sequence of movements used for the purpose of improving your condition. It increases circulation locally, thereby increasing venous return, which reduces the heart rate. As a result of the improved circulation, the blood supply to the muscles improves and the elasticity of the skin increases. It is a muscle relaxant and pain reliever.

What does clinical massage mean, how is it different from other massages?

In the shortest possible way, I could describe it as "The art of direct tissue treatment: a dialogue with the tissues".

Sensory touch is the key to the art of tissue manipulation. The therapist measures the responsiveness of the tissue and applies pressure accordingly. This "attentive" sensitivity towards the tissue can be aptly called a "dialogue with the tissue", as the therapist "negotiates" with the tissue through touching how much pressure is needed to achieve relaxation.

What we, Clinical Massage Therapists, deal with is permanently or pathologically shortened muscle tissue: in other words, muscle tissue that has shortened (most likely for defensive purposes) and is therefore unable to work and resists stretching.

Shortened muscle tissue cannot do work. Muscle tissue does the work by contracting, so it can no longer work if it is shortened.
